We offer several excursions by land and water to fascinating sites: motorboat excursion through Río Unare, La Tigrita dam, colonial churches of Clarines and Puerto Píritu, and the small islands of Puerto Píritu. We now describe a few of them.
Excursion to La Tigra dam
The La Tigra dam is in the mountains, an hour away from Boca de Uchire. It is 17 km long and it is a true marvel.
On a small motorboat we discover channels and streams, and we go on hikes to caves and other sites with a magnificent view of this artificial lake.
We arrive at a rustic camp, where we sleep in 'hamacas'. After preparing a delicious steamed catfish or a barbecue, at the end of the day we build a fire in this isolated spot and let our imagination fly.
This excursion begins after breakfast and ends at lunchtime the following day.
boat leaves the town of La Cerca and goes along a 5 kilometer-long canal toward the Unare river. Once there, we go downriver to its mouth at the sea, where we take an enjoyable swim. Afterwards we travel 20 km upriver to watch the area's flora and fauna (we recommend you take a camera along) until Laguna Verde, a piece of land at the edge of the river which also belongs to the inn, where we prepare a delicious barbecue or meat dish.
